Bearing witness to nature

Up here, the sky feels closer. The Ripollès region, a land of mountains and green valleys in the Girona Pyrenees, invites us to see the world from a different perspective.

Here, nature is not observed from afar — it is lived. With its deep greens, soaring peaks, and open fields, this land speaks in a clear voice, echoing an ancient story that still beats between stones and trails. It invites you to sit when you reach the highest point, to breathe slowly, to take off your shoes and feel the cool grass beneath your feet.

In that moment — simple and pure — everything shifts. The air is cleaner, time seems to pause, and the noise fades away to make room for birdsong, while a quiet sense of fullness washes over you. Being a witness to nature, with its delicate flora and discreet fauna, makes you feel small — yes — but also deeply fortunate. Here, everything seems bigger, and at the same time, more intimate.

Today, we didn’t make it to Puigmal, the highest peak in Ripollès. But you don’t need to reach the summit to touch the sky. All you have to do is let yourself go. Stop at a viewpoint and watch how the morning light seeps into the valleys, or feel the crunch of snow beneath your feet when winter paints everything white. Take the back roads, climb paths that wind through meadows and forests, and allow the landscape to change you — little by little, without hurry.

And then you realise that nature asks for nothing. Only that you be present. That you truly see it. That you become a witness — not a judge, not the protagonist — to what it offers us each day: a show that is both discreet and majestic. A silence full of meaning. A form of peace that doesn’t need to be understood, only lived.

Up here, the sky feels closer. But it is on the ground — in contact with the living, unbound landscape — where everything truly makes sense.
