Toni Pons was born in 1946 in the heart of the Mediterranean coast. We opened our first workshop in Osor, Girona, in a post-war context. In this workshop, shoes were made for the local population, using any available material: esparto grass espadrilles and leather boots with recycled tire soles.
We make handcrafted shoes for anyone who doesn’t want to compromise on looking good or feeling comfortable. With Toni Pons shoes, we prove that comfort and style can go hand in hand.
These are the values that have defined us as a company since our beginnings in 1946: excellence in our work, common sense, warmth in our relationships, integrity, social credibility, and respect for the environment.
The espadrille, a fashion icon
At the beginning of the 20th century, the espadrille became popular among painters, writers, and intellectuals, such as Salvador Dalí and Pablo Picasso, and became a symbol of bohemian culture.
In the 1930s, Coco Chanel brought the espadrille to the front of fashion shows, and Hollywood icons such as Lauren Bacall, Marilyn Monroe, Grace Kelly, and Humphrey Bogard brought them to the big screen. Since then, espadrilles have become a global trend.
